Teakettle Enterprises Ltd. is a grower of
ornamental plant seed - primarily palms. Based mainly in the Central American
country of Belize, we have established a seed plantation for
ornamental plant seed. Our product line consists of a limited number of
seed products that are marketed to a select group of wholesale customers
located worldwide. We specialize in seed from cultivated sources. Most
of the seed that we offer is produced on our own farm or from other cultivated
sources. Some seed, however, is harvested from the forests of Belize in
a sustainable fashion following strict ecological guidelines so as not
to contribute to the depletion of the native populations.
Teakettle Enterprises Ltd. strongly believes that the international marketplace
for ornamental plant seed demands specialization to be successful. We specialize
in palms and our customers usually specialize in palms! Our particular
specialty is the endangered palms of Central and South America, primarily
the Chomaedoreas, these beautiful little palms are residents of the understory
and in the conflict between conservation and development, the rainforest
is losing. With the continued deforestation of this part of the world,
the habitats and availability of these palms is shrinking. In spite of
the best efforts of the conservationists, we see little likelihood that
the development of this region and the destruction of the rainforests are
going to stop. These are rugged and tough little palms but they die as
soon ad they lose the shelter of the surrounding forest canopy. Their increasing
popularity, and the resulting increased demand, has led to increased collection
from an ever decreasing habitat.

supports conservation. We are dedicated to the concept of conservation
through cultivation and are convinced that cultivation is the only effective
conservation strategy that can supply the increasing needs of the ornamental
plant industry on a sustainable basis. We are planning, and planting, now
